More Lower Back Pain Exercises
Another great lower back pain exercise
Sitting with a poor posture like slouching for many years or doing work that requires you to be hunched over can cause your abdominal muscles to contract and actually get shorter causing lower back pain. I had this very problem and this exercise is giving me great relief but if over done can cause sharp pains in your abdomen. (I know from experience!) If done slowly and correctly the muscles will stretch and not tear.
Laying face down on the floor with your hands in the pushup position slowly raise your upper body from the waist up. About halfway up stop and take a deep breath into your abdomen. If you feel everything stretching to the point of discomfort, hold the breath for a 10 count, exhale and return to the floor. Repeat just a few times a day and you will see results quickly!
If you can go all the way up and perform the deep breath then this is probably not the cause of your back pain. For everyone that felt the stretch, continue doing these stretches until you can go all the way up and fill your abdomen with air and not feel any discomfort. One mistake I made was going all the way up and holding it for too long. This caused tears in my abdomen which results in a sharp stabbing pain for a couple days. Not to bad but definitely a nusiance.
If you do experience this pain at least you know what caused it and how long it will last. By doing this lower back pain exericse you will be taking pressure off of your lower back and improving your posture at the same time. For me, I am happy knowing that I am doing something good for my body that will help me stay pain free for years to come. Happy stretching.
